Beach volleyball Hamburg: Rothenbaum and courts
Hamburg staged the 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships at Rothenbaum — the show court is still there, but the scene plays in the Stadtpark, along the Alster and at clubs across the city.
Public Stadtpark courts are first come, first served. Reserved slots live at club and indoor venues; the HVV supplies rankings and the Hamburg series. Upcoming tournaments and open games sit further down this page.

At Beach Hamburg in Dulsberg, winter means a choice between the indoor hall and the airdome over the first six outdoor courts, heated to about 18 °C — its floor is not, so bring beach socks. Courts open for booking three weeks ahead at the earliest, and the hourly price covers four players; each extra player costs a one-off €5. - The Rothenbaum stadium is a show court and Worlds backdrop, not an open pickup field. Everyday play is in the Stadtpark, along the Alster and at clubs across the city. A court on the Rothenbaum grounds means asking the hosting club — not walking onto the tribune court.
- Where are the public sand courts in the Stadtpark?
- Public sand courts sit in the Stadtpark opposite the Jahnkampfbahn, with more along the Alster and two in Lohmühlenpark in St. Georg, right by the Lange Reihe entrance.
