Beach volleyball in Germany

Beach volleyball in Germany is played almost entirely outdoors: on free public courts in parks, at lakes and inside public pools, on club grounds, and at commercial beach centres that rent by the hour. This page collects what OnSand knows about the scene — courts with address and court count, upcoming federation tournaments, clubs, and the DVV ranking lists.

The outdoor season runs roughly from May to September; in winter part of the scene moves into indoor beach halls. Playing usually takes just two things: a free court and enough people. OnSand organises both — open games you can join, live availability at connected venues, and the clubs in your city.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I play beach volleyball publicly in Germany?
Almost every larger city has free public courts — in parks, at lakes and inside public pools. OnSand lists them per city with address, court count and a map, alongside commercial venues where you can see open slots directly. On public courts the ball, and often the net, is your own kit.
Do I need to book a beach volleyball court?
Public courts are normally free and cannot be booked: first come, first served. Beach centres and club facilities rent by the hour, usually with a net included. For connected venues OnSand shows availability for the coming days.
When is the beach volleyball season?
Outdoors roughly from May to September — the state federations schedule most of their tournaments in those months. People play either side of it while the weather holds, and through winter in the heated indoor beach halls several large cities have.
How do I find players at my level?
Through open games: someone creates a game at a court with a time, a court count and a skill level, and whoever fits joins. That is what OnSand is for — instead of asking across several group chats you see what is running in your city and where a spot is still free.
Where do I find tournaments and rankings?
Upcoming federation tournaments are on this page and in the tournament directory, each with date, venue and category. The federation ranking lists are kept separately, together with the athletes they rank.
